Our 25 Year History
Westwood Physical Therapy is a full-service physical therapy clinic that was founded by Joan Schmidt, P.T. 25 years ago (2006 is our 25th business anniversary!). The clinic began in Culver City, moved to Westwood, and is now located on Wilshire Boulevard in Brentwood to conveniently serve the West Los Angeles community. Our Mission Statement
Westwood Physical Therapy is dedicated to enabling our patients to lead as normal a life as possible. We teach our patients to build on their abilities and to minimize their disabilities through our one-on-one involvement and direct encouragement. We recognize the importance of keeping up with current research so that we can provide the highest quality patient care available. Our commitment to excellence means that we will acquire the equipment and education necessary to constantly improve our treatment techniques. Our therapists hold positions of leadership within our profession, and our administrative staff is trained to support our therapists and serve our patients with the highest degree of professionalism.
University Affiliation
As part of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program it is necessary for students to take part in a number of clinical experiences in order apply the knowledge they have gained in the classroom to a practical situation. Westwood Physical Therapy has partnered with some of the nation’s top DPT programs in order to ensure that the clinical experience is first-rate, and for the advancement of the field of physical therapy. Students from the University of Southern California, Chapman University, Creighton University, California State University Northridge, and Nazareth College have all furthered their understanding and increased their level of expertise in evaluating and treating patients through their clinical experience with Westwood Physical Therapy.
