All exercise programs require proper core activation prior to properly executing the desired functional movement pattern(s).

The best corset you can give patients is their own muscle brace through their transverse abdominis.
A Core Stabilization Program incorporates Pilates core mat-based exercises along with props such as the Swiss Ball, foam rollers, balance discs, and resistive bands. The swiss ball and the other props are great tools for core stabilization training as they challenge ones balance and therefore increase the recruitment of the transverse abdominis muscle during exercise.
Rounding out our lumbar program, we would include diaphragmatic breathing, good posture, ADL’s, aerobic training and flexibility exercises.
