Rehab Pilates

Pilates ReformerOur Pilates Program is much more than a one-size-fits-all workout.

Pilates focuses on performing fewer, more precise movements that require concentration, control, and proper form.

Reformer or Mat Pilates does not use weights. Rather, it emphasizes body weight and motion control as resistance. As a result of these controlled motions the patient is able to achieve greater full body strength, mental focus, body awareness, flexibility, muscle tone, and energy.

Pilates emphasizes movements requiring the use of core muscles – the deep abdominal muscles, buttock muscles, and muscles closest to the spine. Pilates’ focus on building core muscles and postural awareness are especially well indicated for the alleviation and prevention of back pain, as well as numerous other diseases and conditions.

Our staff physical therapists at Westwood Physical Therapy have become experts in incorporating the Pilates reformer into their treatment repertoire.
